Tried a few, -arms race, what a confusing horrible hokey gamey unrealistic mess having nothing to do with skill. Style over substance.Īnd of course it goes without saying that carriers should be excluded per se. They eye-candy does do that - the substance does not. I mean if you're not prepared to introduce educational elements that spoon-feed the skills to casual players, like it was done in exemplary fashion in the Raid for the Filth mode, then you could introduce unusual challenges instead that don't cater to Fortnite kiddies but rather to the core clientele, which is navy buffs and history nerds. And then more ammo would be dropped into the game in the desiognated areas. If you're having supply drops, then it would be perfectly conceivable to, say, give up the unlimited ammo supplies for this mode and issue each ship only with a limited amount of shells, and maybe a single torpedo reload for each launcher, which could maybe also take a lot longer to accomplish. This is further exacerbated by the availability of Tier X ships for money and resources, as well as power camos and special signals etc available for purchase, which gives even the most casual of noobs a shortcut to the odd Tier X ship, but not to the necessary Commander Skills, not to mention the personal tactical skills.Īnd on top of that, no effort is being made to reduce the arcadyness of the Arms Race mode. Instead, huge rewards are offered, drawing lots more sub-par players into the competition that have frankly no business being there, a millstone on the neck of fair-but-not-top players like myself, too heavy for us to carry. It does not impose some kind of skill floor limit. It does not incentivise communication and teamplay explicitly enough. But it does nothing to prepare players for Clan Battles. Back when was introduced, it was meant to be a kind of precursor leading up to actual competitive play, which is Clan Battles. However, they have done nothing to actually improve the substance of the Ranked format. We have come to expect great eye candy from Wargaming and this is another nice touch.
